- Pre-purchase examinations (‘vettings')
- Routine stud work - including chilled semen A.I
- Ultrasound scanning
- Endoscopy
Iain will be working at Kelso - Mondays, Gala - Tuesdays, Duns - Fridays.
Non-urgent/routine Equine visits should be booked ahead.
National vaccination month.
June is national vaccination month and this year for the first time we are including equines. To ensure protection of your horses and ponies from the potentially fatal disease equine tetanus (lockjaw) and protect them from respiratory illness from the equine influenza virus, this scheme offers clients who have never vaccinated their horse(s), or where the vaccinations have relapsed for 3 months or more, a free 2nd dose of vaccine. The aim is to ensure more horses than ever are protected from these devastating illnesses. (Whether you choose tetanus or flu and tetanus cover). Clients will also receive a complimentary wormer!
If you would like to take advantage of this fantastic offer, vouchers can be downloaded from www.vaccinationmonth.co.uk and registering with Merlin vet group. They can be reimbursed when you arrange visits with Merlin. Any queries please phone us!
Animal manipulation (Chiropractic).
As of August 2009, Iain Lathangie will be able to provide existing Equine clients (and referrals) with a back manipulation (chiropractic) service.
He has been training as a McTimoney-Corley animal manipulator (chiropractor) at college in Oxfordshire over the past twelve months and will be happy to look into any suspect back problems, poor performance and advise on maintaining spinal health in your equines.
This will compliment another alternative therapy already offered by a Merlin Vet, Michael Kyle. (Kelso)
Microchipping.
Just a reminder that ALL foals (including non-thoroughbred), born after July 1st 2009 have (by law) to be micro chipped. Also any horse/pony that still has no passport must be micro chipped when the passport is done.
